The Darboy Dandies got their start jamming at a weekly bluegrass jam at the Menasha Grill restaurant. Every Wednesday night for about four years local musicians would gather at the Grill and share tunes. Guitars, mandolins, banjos, fiddles, dobros, and the upright bass blended with voices each week to create a magical tapestry of sound. It was out of these jams that the Darboy Dandies was born. The Dandies include the very talented Hugo Kons (A Darboy native) who has been entertaining crowds in the Fox Valley area for many years. Recently transplanted from Chicago, Illinois is Tom McQuinn who has been playing guitar since he was a child. Tom is a talented and skilled guitarist who also teaches guitar here in the Fox Valley. Frank Schwalbach plays the five string banjo in the Scruggs style and sings in the style of Johnny Cash. Rounding out the group is Steve Jacobs on rhythm guitar and vocals. Special guests who have performed with the group include Jesse Stumpf (The original Darboy Dandy) and Julie McQuinn, Tom's wife.
